Values

TRUTH

We abide in the authenticity and vulnerability that comes with a life given by God’s grace. We start in this place of honesty with ourselves, each other, and God about who we are and where we should be, even if such honesty is difficult.

CONFESSION

We seek to foster a community where confession (our words and images of ourselves) is bound up in truth-seeking and truth-speaking. This may look differently, either as confession of sin or testimony of self-love. As we are honest with each other about racism, we painstakingly forge a community where each person is fully seen.

REPENTANCE and RECENTERING

Relying on God’s power, grace, and work in our life, our entire mindset and embodied patterns of our life are changed. Recognizing racism for what it is, we repent from White Supremacy and center BIPOC voices. We forge a community of fideltity. Such fidelity creates a dialectic of accountability and openness.

RECONCILIATION

Having pledged ourselves to truth and confession, we entrust ourselves to God’s power in forging a difficult reconciliation shaped by genuine accountability. Reconciliation is about finding a new and just way to relate to each other, a kind of harmony that reflects the very life of the Triune God. The work of reconciliation is not a static or closed thing, but an always unfinished task.
